Notes:
Tree c.10m high; habit dense and semi-pyramidal; i.e. a fairly young tree. Bark flaky, grey on surface, yellowish-brown beneath. Buds chestnut brown. Shoots dark greyish in second year, massive, bearing leaves towards apex. An isolated tree. Cones from ground. All deciduous and with basal scales missing. Apophyses brown, strongly prickly. Isolated tree on margin of dense stand of Pinus nigra subsp.laricio
