Specimen notes
Supplementary remarks:
Not Q. canariensis. Peduncles too long; Petiole too short; Insufficient pairs of veins in the leaves; Bark samples ash-grey and not grey-black; Leaves rather small and slightly auriculate. Flora Europaea keys out to Q. robur however young shoots sparsely to densely hairy and leaves not deeply lobed. Planted in 1914 by T.W. Adams. Origin of seed not given but if from Gt Britain the specimens planted as Q. canariensis could be Q. canariensis × robur.
