Habitat:
Subalpine Athrotaxis cupressoides forest in stream gully running through button grassland. Ecotone between gully forest and button grass. Vertical water logged sunny bank; with Jamesoniella, Dicranoloma robustum, Lycopodium scariosum. Also in open button grass.

C.fr. Calyptra not seen.Note: leaf apices reflexed (as Bryum billardierei) when fresh.

Supplementary remarks:
Upper leaf margins reflexed. Leaves decumbent. Capsules 2-3 mm ø. Setae 6-8 mm. Basal leaf cells 120-180 µm long.
