Habitat:
Valley bottom, on bank beside old plantation of fruit treees. Cultivation relic.
Notes:
Large thicket-forming herb, the thick rhizomes not collected. Infl. sub- erect in normal ones, but drooping over in proliferous one represented by Sheet B. Bracts pink,2.5-3.3cm, the longest ones towards the base, all +/- folded to form concave inner surface. No flowers present. Alpinia purpurata pink cultivar.
