Habitat:
Margin of conifer plantation, on small indigenous trees.
Notes:
Liane; smothering host trees by its dense "canopy" of stems and leaves forming a curtain. Flowers pendent. Hypanthium 10-10.5cm long, green. Perianth segments 3.5-4cm long x c.1.5 cm wide. Very common and a nuisance. Perianth cont:- segments (outer), elliptic-lanceolate, pale greenish-pink outside, pink within; segments (inner) elliptic, deep pink; corona a ring of white filaments 4-6 mm long, a deep purple ring at their base. Filaments pale pink. Styles curving outwards & downwards, light purplish; stigma green. Young fruit green with dark purple bands.
