Base of cliff, on scoria.
Notes:
This specimen collected by PJ de Lange 926 on 31.7.91 with L Hatch. Lvs deep green with glaucous undersides, deep blue waxy bases. Sp. with small lvs c.1.2-1.5m long,. Wide mat (not glossy), very glaucous, heads small held well above tussock erect, firm. Waxy sheath bases a deep blue colour. See supplementary label.

Appears to be halfway between Corttaderia 'small' and C. splendens. this specimen produces seed which is inviable.
