Notes:
Specimen removed from collection housed in Te Kauri Lodge Museum Herbarium (Hamilton Junior Naturalist Club Inc. Collection) in 1989. Only one specimen survived in 1982 although formerly the species was more abundant here. In October 1989 I accompanied Dr. B.D. Clarkson and we successfully recollected it from here for cutting material. Live material from this site is still in cultivation (1982 gathering) at 19 Cranwell Place, while those cuttings gathered by Clarkson ar "doing well" (1990).This small scrap is the only authentic, non cultivated Hebe obtusata voucher for Kawhia (other than Clarksons 1989 cutting gatherings) that I know of.The specimens were taken from a seedling plant established from a much larger parent on a small ledge. Possums heavily browsed the adult plant which died in 1981.
Observed species:
Dichondra brevifolia
Galium propinquum
Trisetum sp. antarcticum agg.
