Notes:
Plants sparsely pubescent to puberulent in lower sheaths, yellowish green to glaucous resembling a larger form of Cyperus tenellus or Juncus bufonius. Origin unknown but also present elsewhere in Hamilton and along Waikato River. Certainly an adventive species. [I can see little justification for retaining this species in our indigenous flora. Its presence in Hamilton is quite surprising and its association with recently disturbed ground around building sites and construction areas in a locality well outside its previous recorded range does cast some doubt on the justification of leaving this species on our indigenous flora. Druce (88) accepted this comment and has rejected it from his lists, P.J. de Lange].
Observed species:
Cotula australis
Cotula tenellus
Juncus bufonius
