sterile; unusually pale.

Supplementary remarks:
This is an unusually pale collection of C. [Calliergon] sarmentosum. However, the relatively narrow and thick-walled upper laminal cells, and the absence of "rhizoid initials", and leaf apiculus form lead me to conclude that is it best referred to C. [Calliergon] sarmentosum than any other allied species.
Allan Fife, December 2000
