Habitat:
Steep east-facing slope, dominated by broom, ± open pockets.
Notes:
Arborescent plant with stems to 80 cm. tall and 3 cm. diam. Leaf scars +/- rhomboid, lateral branches only near stem bases and much thinner and smaller. Leaves in terminal, rather flat rosettes to 20cm diam., to 13 × 4.3 cm., 4 × 5 mm thick in middle, obovate-spathulate, with lower leaves almost petiolate, glaucous, flat on both surfaces apart from slight rounded keel on each side, purple-margined, slightly apiculate. Old infl. large and probably c. 30cm high.Well established with a number of patches near Massey Memorial on Halswell Point. Could well be A. urbicum × A. haworthii see Praeger... Sempervivum Group R.H.S. 193 (p. 176 in Cramer 1967 reprint). Could be hybrid.
