Habitat:
Open grassy hillside facing west; on rock outcrop.
Notes:
Succulent herbs with short stem and greenish to glaucous-white leaves. Sheet a) greenish leaf, b) glaucous-white leaf. Leaves to 10.5 x 9cm & 12mm thick, very broadly obovate, greenish or white bloomy; flat or convex below and concave above, margin purple on rounded part. Scapes to c. 40cm high (i.e. above uppermost leaves) often only a few cm high); green or purple, white bloomy. Infl. of ± drooping cymes around scape apex. Sepals 4-5mm long, broadlt triangular, green or purplish, bloomy. Corolla c.4.7cm, orange or reddish-orange, apical part with petals c. 7mm wide, narrow elliptic-oblong, slightly apiculate. Stamens 2-2.5cm, yellow epipetalous, styles 1.6-1.8cm, green. Glands 2-2.5mm diam., almost square, yellow. Common in this habitat.
