Male. Shrub c. 4m. Shoots dark purplish, striations absent below bark. Leaves silky below when young. Catkins 3-3.5cm. Bracts 2.5-3mm oblong, dark brown in upper half. Gland (1), 0.6mm, rectangular, deep green.
