Male. Tree small or medium size, but pollarded. Trunk stout. Shoots glaucous, except when young. Leaves ± glaucescent below. Catkins mostly over, those present often smaller than normal. Bracts 1-1.8mm, black, ovate, with tapering apex. Gland (1), 0.6-0.8mm, linear.
