Supplementary remarks:
[Excerpt from letter] Dr. Hunter asked me to send you a branch of Nothopanax McIntyrei. it is a bush about ten feet high and eight feet across the middle. is branches from the ground upwards About 20 years ago the late Mr. H.J. Mathews sent a small plant to me and I did not think much of it at first but Mr. W.A. Thomson saw it a few years ago and got some flowering branches to send to the late Mr. Cheeseman and suggested naming it after me. The late Mr. Petrie got some later and said it was Panax Colensoi but seeing the two growing here they are quite distinct this is a bushy shrub and P. Colensoi is a tree.
John W. Mc. Intyre, June 20th 1926
