Supplementary remarks:
This is clearly the HH Allan collection cited by Dixon (1929: 360) as S. magellanicum - this specimen is therefore of particular historical significance. No other duplicates appear to be present in CHR (Jan. 2006). The chlorophyllose cells of branch leaves are representative of S. cristatum (they are not deeply enclosed as in S. magellanicum). The stem cortical cells here have mulitple (mostly 2-4) pores, which is also representative of S. cristatum.
