Supplementary remarks:
Pinus encelmannii Carr. (P. apatheca Lemm.) is a variety of Pinus ponderosa. This specimen has longer leaves than in most trees of P. ponderosa seen in New Zealand. This specimen also has leaves in 3's + 4's. Like most P. ponderosa in N.Z. the bud scales are not very (if at all) resinous and they are not appressed.
