Details from Gibbs correspondence:- T. F. Cheeseman writes to F. G. Gibbs (6 February 1904): "I am truly sorry that your holidays have turned out so poorly for you, and that your tramp over Mount Starveall resulted so unfortunately. I send a list of your plants herewith. 310 is Veronica linifolia, one of the few New Zealand species of the genus which can be always identified at sight. It is quite new to me so far north, the most northerly localities known to me being Mount Owen on one side and Lake Tennyson on the other".
