Habitat:
Lowland second growth kamahi-hinau-treefern scrub near to the river and adjacent rimu forest; <100 ft elevation. On moist humus on stump.
Notes:
C.Fr. This specimen has been compared to Type material of Hypnum Distichum Sw. located in the Natural History Museum, London (BM). I consider it to be taxonomically indistinguishable from the Type specimen. I have recorded details concerning the Type specimen.
