Public Note:
microscopically identical to other collections. Also on soil and twigs. Association with alga quite clear. Primordia are centrally stipitate. Spores discharged as clumped tetrads, and many spores collapsing. Are there are haustoria? Could find plenty of hyphae with adjacent algal cells but no clear haustoria. Spores are acyanophilous. With DNA tube. The sequence of this material places it squarely within Clitopilus and within the recently erected section Omphalodei containing C. giovanellae and O. farinolens. The section is misnamed as this taxon is clearly not Omphaloid. It does share the same characteristics of being smooth spored with white gills despite being within Clitopilus. I suspect the group will be found to be all lichenised. See Myc Res. 111, 2007, p1399. This is Segedin's Cheimenophyllum candissimum. spores length=7.3–8.6µm (µ=8.1, σ=0.36), width=3.8–4.3µm (µ=4.1, σ=0.15), Q=1.9–2.2µm (µ=2.00, σ=0.07), n=20
