Public Note:
An ITS sequence from this specimen does not match either the other specimens identified as C. phyllocladi or a specimen identified as C. clavatus. PDD 72098 specimen has some leaves with apothecia associated with pycnidia (not present in C. phyllocladi), the ascospores are filiform, of similar length to C. phyllocladi but wider (2.5-3 um), and the ascus apex is more truncate then typical for C. phyllocladi (similar to the truncate ascus pex of C. clavatus). Apothecia morphologically typical of C. phyllocladi are also present on some leaves in this specimen. Assume that the culture that was sequenced came from apothecia of the morphologically different species, but unable to be certain of this. PDD 46953 in morphologically the same.
