Specimen notes
Public Note:
There is no evidence for a veil on the primordia in the collection. It is simply velutinate when small, as are other Pleurotus species. This does have gloeosphex cystida, with deciduous tips, producing spherical bodies with remnants of cystidia attached. This is typical of both Pleurotus and Hohenbuehelia. The spores to 12x5 um, Q=2.3. Skeletal hyphae are absent. This has the micro-morhology of P. australis.
J.A. Cooper, 18/12/2014
Public Note:
A sequence of this type confirms this is P. australis.
