Specimen notes
Public Note:
clearly arising from a basal pad, and with frosty primordia. Dried frbs look like M. carmeliana and M. interrupta. Gill edge gelatinised, and drying a different colour to gill face. Cap pleated, even in dry material. Cap a glassy cutis over a strongly gelatinised and disrupted subcutis with yellow globular particles and mineralised angular particles. Cutis weakly dextrinoid. The subcutis seems to consist of disrupted hymeniderm cells with the globular particles. The cutis is very finely ornamented with coralloid growth and mineral particles. The cap surface is not like Seggedin's drawing which seems to mix the mineral and coralloid elements. There are no cap hairs of any kind in any of the type frbs. The remaining stem on the type does not have any caulocystidia of the 'longisetosa' type, but material sparse. Spores from deposit on cap length=9.7-11.7µm (µ=10.5, σ=0.58), width=6.4-7.9µm (µ=7.1, σ=0.41), Q=1.3-1.6µm (µ=1.48, σ=0.09), n=21. mainly 4 spored, but some 2. Gill edge with a band of yellow resinous material insoluble in KOH. The cheilocystidia of protologue not observed. Microscopically close/same as M. interrupta.
