Specimen notes
Public Note:
Spores from print in KOH and excluding apiculus length=10.7-12.7µm (µ=11.7, σ=0.54), width=9.9-12.3µm (µ=10.7, σ=0.61), Q=0.9-1.2µm (µ=1.09, σ=0.07), n=20. Sequencing indicates Ridley's concept includes two taxa. One has brown lamellar edges in which hyphae form a parallel band to the gill edge and disrupted (gelatinised). The holotype of A. pekeoides has this feature. The second taxon has distinct brown pyrifom cheilocystidia. The holotype does not posess these (checked multiple times). They do correspond to Ridley's figure 4f for Stevenson 969 and the protologue text. Sequences of the cystidioid version are closely related to A. drummondii from Western Australia. Both taxa are associated with beech and tea-tree and otherwise seem to be morphologically indistinguishable. [2023] This is listed by GR as the white version of A. pekeoides. Note the snakeskin pattern on the stipe visible in dried material.
