Specimen notes
Public Note:
Spores, including apiculus length=9.1–12.1µm (µ=10.2, σ=0.70), width=6.1–8.4µm (µ=7.2, σ=0.63), Q=1.3–1.6µm (µ=1.42, σ=0.09), n=23. Petersen's length is smaller but it isn't clear if he included the apiculus or not. Recent material identifies as this has sequences close to material with pronounced spines (C. megasporina), although as Petersen notes the spines appear late. It seems likley that presence/absence of spines is variable in Clavaria and not a good character.
