a true Sorokina? Asci J-, ascospores very finely striate (striae barely visible under light microscope), about 7.5-12.5 x 3.5-5 µm. Dennis 1958 does not give ascospore sizes for the Tasmanian S. lignicola, but notes they are little larger than those of S. microspora (spores 6-7 x 2.5-3 µm) - this more or less fits for the NZ specimen. However, Dennis draws the striae of S. lignicola as being quite distinct, whereas they are barely discernable for PDD 44266, Dennis draws the spores of S. lignicola as more narrowly elliptic than those of PDD 44266, and the substrates differ (nikau fronds for the NZ species, wood for the Tasmanian).
