[McNabb] Pileus: centrally depressed, 7.cm diam., very slightly viscid when in v. wet weather, otherwise dry, smooth, innately pruinose under hand lens, margins entire, not marked, not incurved, yellow general colour, C3A6 4A4-A5 occ. slightly discoloured in areas with darker yellowish brown stains. Gills: to 7mm deep, mod. distant, lamellae simple, lamellulae present in 2 series, unequal, adnate to decurrent, pallid cream with yellowsih brown edges, rather thick, exuding a rather watery white latex when damaged, unchanging on exposure to air. Stipe: 4.5 cm long, stout, 2.5cm diam. equal, smooth, dry, annulus absent, innately pruinose under lens, concolorous with pileus, whitish at extreme base. Lightly chambered, pure white flesh, slightly granular, white unchanging. Context of Pileus: thick, white, firm, slightly granular, unchanging. Spore print: not obtained. [Horak] HABITAT/SUBSTRATE: EM. - On soil under Nothofagus fusca/menziesii. FRUITING: April. SPECIMENS EXAMINED: NEW ZEALAND: Nelson, Springs Junction, Maruia Springs, 15 Apr. 1968, R.F.R.McNabb 26531 (holotype PDD, ZT 69316). [Cooper] surface of compact erect elements with surface yellow pigment, over fine textured layer 75um thick, over more open texture layer 100um, over sphaerocysts. Surface squash shows occasional refractive elements. Broad sinuose lactifers abundant in gill tissue. Macrocystidia not obvious but material not in good shape. Maybe gill edge has fine terminal elements like cap? A few marcopleurocystidia present. Spores with plage and violet grey spot. length=7.3–9.8µm (µ=8.7, σ=0.58), width=6.4–7.9µm (µ=7.1, σ=0.46), Q=1.1–1.4µm (µ=1.23, σ=0.07), n=20. Oranamentation to 0.8um high.
