Specimen notes

Public Note:
[PL as M. hygrophora] No cross gills, no cheilo with diverticulae so = M. hygrophora. Fits except that spores are smaller than Stevenson quotes. [JAC] Stevenson's hygrophora clearly in fragilipdes and near taxa like leptocephala, aetites, polygrama 'Barracuta' etc. This material: with decurrent tooth. with clamped cap hyphae a cutis over hymeniderm, both dextrinoid. Pleipellis not ornamented. Cheilocystidia large, glassy walled, ventricose and often with apical extension, to 70 x 20. Present also as pleurocystidia, and obvious under dissecting scope. 4-spored. Coarse tan fibres present at stem base. Gill basal interveining present but weak. Without caulocystidia. spores length=8.5–10.9µm (µ=9.6, σ=0.67), width=5.1–6.5µm (µ=5.5, σ=0.33), Q=1.5–2.0µm (µ=1.74, σ=0.14), n=19. Gill edge concolorous. Gills tan in dried material. Au to m. trachycephala, except that with ornamented cap hyphae. Robbich to niveipes. This is not M. galericulata sensu Horak, like some other PL colls of 'hygrophora'. M. hygrophora is a nom. dub. Sequence says 'rangitaiki'
