Specimen notes
Public Note:
no taste. without basal interveining. Lamellae subdecurrent. All tissue dextrinoid, spores weakly amyloid. Pileipellis unornamented but with dextrinoid clamp septa, giving distinct appearance to cap squash. Lamellar edge with clavate cystidia, thin-walled, collapsing into tangles. spores small length=5.1–6.4µm (µ=5.8, σ=0.41), width=3.4–4.2µm (µ=3.7, σ=0.21), Q=1.4–1.8µm (µ=1.59, σ=0.11), n=20. Without the acuminate cystidia of M. fuscovinacea? (type doesn't have them anyway). But sequences say near 10764 which has them. Not directly related to the vinacea/fuscovinacea complex and much nearer to M. pura ss.
