Specimen notes
Public Note:
tea-tree planted in 1999 on site without previous tea-tree. Nearest near sugarloaf, only 1km. Two Descoleas, one with smaller plates and different spores. Peridium with yellow fibrils. This is clearly one of Timgrovea macrosporus/reticulatus and the reticulate spore is not always present given that sequence identical collections both have and don't have it. T. macrosporus 18-24 x 12-17, T. reticulatus 18-22 x 11-15. Cunningham distinguished the two on the basis of macrospora with a thick endospore (2um thick and deeply coloured), and reticulatus endospore thin (1um thick). Both species have types from Tasmania. Neither has sequenced material. This collection has an endospore wall varying between 1 and 1.8um. On balnace it fits T. reticulatus but it remains to prove this is identical to Tasmanian material.
