flesh with no colour change, gills 5D5, taste acidulous, cap 4F6. spores length=6.4–8.2µm (µ=7.2, σ=0.51), width=4.0–5.0µm (µ=4.4, σ=0.28), Q=1.5–1.9µm (µ=1.65, σ=0.11), n=20. None of McNabb's species. Not X. griseoolivaceus because spores entirely wrong. LSU indicates this is Tylopilus sensu stricto, Wu clade 26 Tylopilus Boletoidea. Sequence identical to PL16213.
