Specimen notes
Public Note:
This is Matushima's interpretation, which does seem to be the same as Arnaud's illegitimate species. I'm not convinced it is synonymous with P. higginsi (which would be the correct name if so), as proposed by Matsushima, because that produces just apically clustered conidiia (Dactylaria). Seems similar to Pyricularia boreale sensu SIM26, a nom. nov. for McGarvie's Diplorhinotrichum juncicola, and which the SIM interpretation looks nothing like. None are the 1-septate Dactylaria/Pyricularia junci. Phylogenetically this sits in the Cucurbitaceae in the middle of the coeleo Pyrenochaeta and with some strains of Hyalodendriella and Ochrocladosporium. Pseudopyricularia? A gen. nov.?
