Specimen notes
Public Note:
New record for NZ. Conidia 15-30 x 5um. This nearly fits with Priest's concept, conidia 11-22(-33) x 2.5-4. He notes that S. henriquesii, recorded for NZ, is distinguished by conidia 11-12 x 2 (Saccardo v3), but Lindquist in his description of Argentinian material of S. h. forma santonensis describes 12-20x3-4 (see also Sylloge 14, p967 for the original). So there remains some doubt and it is possible NZ collections of these are the same fungus (as forma santonensis and the Australian material at least). ITS says this is same as Septoria coprosmae (once CBS misapp as Mycosphaerella coacervata corrected). So this is a septoria, not a Mycosphaerella and not an Ascochyta. A. matthiolae 1899, S. coprosmae 1886 and S. coprosmae wins, but if the same on Coprosma and Matthiola then surely pleurivorous and there will be any number of competing names. However, S. coprosmae is 30 x 2 and conidii here much wider.
