Specimen notes
Public Note:
stem fibrillose. Gills spotted red turning brown, emarginate, unclamped. Smell mealy. Taste strongly mealy. Cap velutinate. Cap a pluteus-like trichoderm. Some spores dextrinoid. No idea. Not a pluteus . This has the look of a Rhodocollybia masquerading as a pluteus but is actually a Tricholoma! This is not R. purpurata. Note that ITS and LSU put this in different subgenera within Tricholoma. Subpellis a tight cutis of unclamped hyaline hyphae to 5um. Stipitipellis a cutis of brown hyphae, thick-walled, unclamped, with loose surface fibrils. Basidia without basal clamp. 4-spored, length=6.7–8.1µm (µ=7.5, σ=0.37), width=5.3–6.5µm (µ=5.9, σ=0.30), Q=1.2–1.3µm (µ=1.27, σ=0.05), n=20. Singer notes that some Tricholoma have occasional dextrinoid spores. 1962: The Agaricales in modern taxonomy.2nd ed. Tricholoma murillianum (=T. magnivelare).
