Specimen notes
Public Note:
See JAC12463 for material. Associated with a red/orange Hypomyces on Fomes. Conidia spherical, lightly pigmented pale yellow, finely verrucose 10-15 um in diameter and variable in size, borne on short pegs, acropleurogenous (not Basifimbria, Stenocephalopsis, Acrodontium, Haplotrichum, Hansfordia/Dicyma). Note that R. glubulifera is variously described with or without ornamentation. Conidia size is also variable. Matsushima's R. macrospora is possibly something else. New record for NZ. Possibly associated with an effete long-beaked pyreno. When I tried to isolate this I got a Cladobotryum and the sequence is Hypomyces aurantius
