KOH nill. Pors 5 per mm. Dimitic in pores, flesh white above pored. Should be orange below surface in fresh material. Ths material sterile. No descriptions mention the crystal encrusted elements. [JAC:8/07/2020] This species requires a combination in Neofomitella as it appears closely related to the type species. An existing record of Australian material in GenBank is a misidentification, and the basis of an incorrect combination in Pilatoporus. N. australiensis might be a later synonym. [JAC:8/07/2024] and the combination now made by Matt Barrett
