Specimen notes
Public Note:
This was pynidial, not cupulate or acervular. Recent molecular work (Sajeewa, FD, v50, 2011) suggests a broad Xylariaceous/Amphisphaeriaceous grouping of Monochaetia, Pestalotia, Pestalotiopsis, Seimatosporium, Seiridium, Truncatella, Sacostroma. In my opinion not especially well separated morphologicaly and apparently not particularly host-specific so there is confusion. With 4 septa and multiple appendages this seem better placed in Pestalotiopsis.
