Specimen notes
Public Note:
cap 2.5-5cm, convex then depressed. Edge pectinate to 5-8mm, deep vinaceous red with yellow/tan to chestnut background. Slimy when wet. Gills cream, no lamellulae, no basal interveining. Stem with pink flush, paling towards base, hollow. Taste mild, peeling 1/4, skin elastic. Cap with dense layer of pilocystidia which are amyloid, septate, occasional longer ones. This is clearly horakii but has a redder colouration than others, and is from type locality of R. vivida. Are they the same? The type of vivida needs checking for the amyloid pilocystidia.
