fn125: smell raphanoid. Cap black in KOH. With lamellulae, basally interveined. Spores inamyloid. With cheilocystidia. Basidia without siderophilous granulations. Spores clumping. Cap a clamped cutis of unusual construction. With broad hyphae with extra cellular zebroid ornamentation, with vesicles (hydropoid?, and with smaller diameter branching hyphae (dmitic?!). Spores starting elongate and fattening - marasmioid? length=6.9–8.1µm (µ=7.5, σ=0.47), width=2.6–3.2µm (µ=2.9, σ=0.20), Q=2.3–3.1µm (µ=2.58, σ=0.28), n=8. Taste mealy. With occasional pleurocystidia like cheilocystidia and sharing character with the phylogenetically related G. lodgeae and G. termiticola. ITS & LSU indicate maybe not congeneric with Gymnopus sesnu stricto, which would be hardly surprising given the morphology. Hughes, mather, petersen mycologia 102 indicate 3 gymnopus groups and this in group with subperonatus. Sp. nov.
