Specimen notes
Public Note:
strongly nitrous smelling. Steel grey, gill edge concolorous, no juice. Pellicle not separable. Stem hollow. Gills arcuate. Cap a dextrinoid celluloderm with fine dense surface ornamentation. Pleurocystidia absent. 4-spored. Cheilocystidia with neck, some with extensions, not thick-walled (not M. tallangattensis). Spores strongly amyloid, thin-walled, collapsing, length=8.6–10.9µm (µ=9.6, σ=0.8), width=4.6–5.6µm (µ=5.2, σ=0.3), Q=1.6–2.1µm (µ=1.9, σ=0.2), n=13. Possibly aetites, but that without arcuate gills. Same as German material labelled M. leptocephala according to LSU. Caulocystidia inflated. For FN key depends strongly on substrate as litter, wood, twigs etc - doesn't seem to work very well.
