Specimen notes
Public Note:
by river. A lot of alien vegetation here so wouldn't be surprised if this an introduction. No introduced mycorhizal trees tho. Raphanoid smell. No drops on stem apex or gils. Cap sticky. Cystidia along entire stem. Cortina not seen. Not rooting, stem base bulbous. Spores not dextrinoid, cheilocystidia clavate (often furcate - not seen that before). Section denudata. Stem to 1cm diam. Cystidia not thick walled in central part. A jump from Salix would imply H. hiemale, but the LSU for this indicates velutipes/crustiliniforme, with same LSU. No ITS sequence. Both those are conifer associates in NZ (small dataset tho) which would imply Nothofagus more at risk from neighbouring pine than salix.
