Public Note:
gills on dried material appear to have a collarium - pulled away from stem as complete collar. Spores disticntly amyloid. Cap without arthrospores, with oleiferous hyphae. 4-spored. length=6.0–7.2µm (µ=6.4, σ=0.3), width=3.2–3.9µm (µ=3.6, σ=0.2), Q=1.6–2.0µm (µ=1.8, σ=0.1), n=12. Cap cells darkening red/brown in KOH. Pigment plasmatic. This is closer to amianthinum that clastotrichum. Not the latter - spores way too big. Sequences place this distant from C. clastotrichum and adjacent to C. andinum from the Paramo habitat of Ecuador, remarkably similar to the frost flat environment where this was found. C. andinum has red/brown pileus. It could also easily be the case that NZ material historically labelled C. amianthinum or C. muscicola is this. C. muscicola ss is described as methuen 6C6 to 4C7 - browner than orange/yellow tones of the NZ taxon. Cystoderma - spores amyloid 1) cap reddish/brown, on wood - C. 'red' 1) cap yellow colours, in soil/moss 2 2) with arthroposres under cap. Spores 3.5-4.5 x 2.5-3, Q= 1.4-1.5. C. clastotrichum 2) no arthropsores, alpine 3 3) spores 5.8-8.2 x 3.6-4.8, (6.7x4.1) Q=1.6. Cap mustard C. muscicola ss (Australia) 3) spores 5.7-6.6 x 3-3.6, (6.4 x 3.6) Q-1.8. Cap bright yellow/orange. C. 'rangitaiki' (C. amianthinum ss NZ).
