Specimen notes
Public Note:
spores 6.4-7.9(7.2)x4.6-5.6(5.1)um Q=1.4 amygdaliform. Stem equal. Caulocystidia at apex only but entire length covered with white fibrils. Velipellis obvious in centre of cap (see image), cells to xum. This has a few brown vesiculose paracystidia as well as thick-walled mucronate cheilocystidia (long - to 75um and wall to 2,3,4um at apex). Wall at apex is 1-4um and variable. I. dissimilis separated from umbrosa on basis of 3-4um cheilocystidia wall and narrower, shorter spores. For dissimilis 5.8-7.4(6.6)x3.9-4.5(4.1) Q=1.6 and for umbrosa=7.3-8.5(7.9)x4.2-4.9(4.5) Q=1.8. On the whole this seems to be closer to dissimilis than umbrosa - but perhaps there is a continuum between these two taxa - and beyond? Then of course this is with Kunzea and not Nothofagus.
