Public Note:
pellicular, tough, surface smooth with projecting cystidia, not brusing. Cystidia amyloid and visible with a drop of melzers on fruitbody.Cystidia metuloid and crystal encrusted, with thin apex, 12um wide, many parallel but some widening at apex. Lots of spores of different shapes (including algal cells), but basidia are producing allantoid spores. The spores are very variable in size and shape. length=5.7-7.1µm (µ=6.5, σ=0.4), width=2.1-3.0µm (µ=2.3, σ=0.3), Q=2.2-3.4µm (µ=2.8, σ=0.4), n=9. Lumen gradually widening at cystidia apex. J&S and CNE -> T. medius, but will file with T. gracllimus for convenince. T. angustatus cystidia 6um wide, glebulosus complex 12um wide. T. medius, T. glebulosus (known in S. America, T. orientalis, China. Julich and Stalpers treat medius & orientalis as potential synonyms, and glebulosus & gracillimus as synonyms. Clearly in Hymenochaetales along with Rickenella. There seems to be strong evidence here for a bryophyte parasite group containing Gyroflez, alloclavaria, cyphellostereum, globulicium and tubulicrinis.
