Public Note:
Cap 25-65mm diam. Stem 5-8mm at apex by 14-24 at base x 40-68mm. Does Lepiota (=Rhodocollybia) purpurata merge with this taxon in size? This collections shows the usual Rhodocollybia characeristic of spores on gills not dextrinoid, but a substantial number of those on the cap are, with retracted content and outer wall collapsing near retraction (really only clear under DIC) - giving them the spurred appearance. Spores length=6.4–8.3µm (µ=7.4, σ=0.7), width=3.4–4.0µm (µ=3.7, σ=0.2), Q=1.8–2.2µm (µ=2.0, σ=0.1), n=11. And again, Dextrinoid spores length=6.4–8.4µm (µ=7.7, σ=0.54), width=3.2–4.4µm (µ=3.7, σ=0.25), Q=1.7–2.4µm (µ=2.09, σ=0.20), n=20; hyaline uncollapsed spores length=7.6–8.8µm (µ=8.2, σ=0.33), width=3.3–4.1µm (µ=3.6, σ=0.24), Q=2.1–2.6µm (µ=2.31, σ=0.13), n=10. Sequence places this in Rhodocollybia within clade with butyracea and pandipes (Costa Rica). From Mycotaxon v112, p463 R. laulaha is in the group with maculata, whereas this taxon is in their group around butyracea & pandipes. Pileipellis a clamped radial cutis. Surface of repent hyaline hyphae with ctindrical termination, over layer with brown intra-cellular and extracellular zebroid pigment. to 11um diam. Gill trama dextrinoid, parallel. No pleurocystidia. Cheilo abundant, cylindrical to clavate, irregular, 30 x 6. Basidia 4-spored. 25-30 x 6-8 clavate. sterigma to 5,
