Public Note:
With clubs shown in image and scrambling, long, thin rhizoidal strands. 4-spored, inamyloid, monomitic, without sclerotium, unclamped, tissue not reacting with Melzers (slightly dextrinoid perhaps). Spores length=8.6–10.6µm (µ=9.9, σ=0.8), width=4.7–5.9µm (µ=5.2, σ=0.5), Q=1.7–2.2µm (µ=1.9, σ=0.2), n=8. This does not fit Petersen's M. defibulata or rhizomorpha. It is closer to M. juncea but that with clamped hyphae. This is clearly a distinct Macrotyphula. sp. nov. M. 'harakeke'
