Specimen notes
Public Note:
lots of black russuloid decayed fruitbodies around and this could be a remnant in poor condition. With reddish patches on cap and base of stem - but could be bacterial. Taste mild, smell fruity. FeSO4 pale salmon, Guaiac strong positive. Cap hardly peeling. KOH on cap no reaction. No lamellulae. Gills C. Pat indicates guaiac reaction too strong and fruitbody colour too brown for R.a. Lack of lamellulae excludes australis/allochroa. With print.
