Specimen notes
Public Note:
Looks like a Gymnopilus. Taste mild. Cap dark red/brown in KOH. Spores smooth! reniform, not dextrinoid, with germ pore, thick-walled. Cortinia not seen. Has chrysobasidia. Tissue clamped. 4-spored, length=7.7–9.2µm (µ=8.3, σ=0.4), width=4.3–5.1µm (µ=4.7, σ=0.2), Q=1.6–2.0µm (µ=1.8, σ=0.1), n=19 Despite the differences with Egon's description - germ pore, wall thickness - this has to be the same taxon. Only the type collection exists. Is this really a Tubaria? Has LSU near/same as Flammulaster limulatus, and indeed looks similar. That is a European red data sp. Sequence not within crepidotaceae, tubariaceae, inocybaceae
