Specimen notes
Public Note:
cap without scales, cut flesh not turning orange, surface staining red brown after time, gill edge not coloured, ring simple, without brown felty underneath, stem smooth and without bands or granules. 4-spored (but different spores sizes would indicate 2 spored as well), cheilocystidia cylindrical/clavate, sometimes furcate. Cap an unclamped cutis. Spores with truncate apex, pore and hyaline cap, length=8.2\endash10.2µm (µ=9.1, σ=0.6), width=5.4\endash6.4µm (µ=5.7, σ=0.3), Q=1.4\endash1.8µm (µ=1.6, σ=0.1), n=19. Spore print white. Mature spores from print with hyaline plug pink in cresyl blue, but no metachromatic reaction. Immature spores on gill metachromatic. Looks every bit like an unscaled Macrolepiota/Chlorophyllum but clearly Leucoagaricus leucothites. L. leucothites is somewhat different to many other leucoagaricus spp and perhaps closer to Chlrophyllum.
