Specimen notes
Public Note:
gills white with greyish/purple tinge towards edge. Cap edge striate, with whitish dusting in centre, becoming slightly areolate towards edge. FeSO4 pink, guaiac nil. Stem with purplish pigment on raised ridges. Peeling 1.3 to 1/2. Taste and smell nil. KOH slightly paling orange on cap. Spore print pure white. Not griseobrunnea as that with lamellulae and this has none. Doesn't key. PL:"Would appear to be an odd collection of R. griseostipitata. But has some differing characters, particularly Guaiac reaction and pseudoareolate patches on cap.". From same location as 10836. Spores length=6.7–8.9µm (µ=7.7, σ=0.6), width=5.1–6.7µm (µ=6.1, σ=0.4), Q=1.0–1.5µm (µ=1.3, σ=0.1), n=14. Cap hairs with forked bases and arising from swollen cell. Cheilocystidia frequent, pleuro less so, and similar. Material with Pat 20/1/2011, Pat says no material? But returned in Feb?? Perhaps actually with beech?
