Specimen notes
Public Note:
cap finely pubescent, gills partly anastomising near stem, basally interveined, no lamellulae, with reddish gill edge in age, yellowing in age, very thick and fragile. FeSO4 weakly salmon, guaiac no reaction. Cap paling orange in KOH. Cap not peeling at all. No taste or smell. R. tawai - Pat. [JAC2010] Old material so the dark gill edge is misleading. Sequence indicates this is not tawai - so just shows that gill edge colour is not an infallible character. Cap with plentiful DCY (R. tawai does not have them), and SV-. Pleurocystidia like cheilocystidia, some yellow in KOH. Spores with low reticulate ornamentation length=7.9–8.9µm (µ=8.4, σ=0.3), width=7.4–8.5µm (µ=7.9, σ=0.4), Q=1.0–1.1µm (µ=1.1, σ=0.0), n=13. Sent to Pat and confirmed as clade 6.
